i visited vienna back in november 2008 — an ideal time to visit the elegant austrian capital because it literally sparkled with christmas markets (‘Christkindlmarkt’), opulently dressed city streets and rosy-faced happy people full of Glühwein. aside from the museumsquartier, one of the 10 largest cultural complexes in the world and an art lover’s dream, one of my favourite areas was the stephansplatz. here, carriagemen corral their well-manicured horses next to the stephansdom (st. stephen’s cathedral) creating a stunning mid-17th-century portrait.
